The Megapixel myth

Many manufacturers are playing the 'spec war' these days.

One such spec is the camera, the myth is that the more mega pixels, or MP, you have the better the image. This simply isn't true, the more pixels you have - the bigger the image. There are a lot of contributing factors i.e. is the lens plastic or glass?

Your 1080p TV or computer screen is only 2MP so it doesn't matter if you have a 20MP image, they will all look the same on your social media stream. Where big mega pixels are useful is if you want to blow your picture up or zoom into it.

The benefit of a smaller image size is that they take up less memory and are much quicker to share and upload.

The image above was taken on my HTC One which only has 4MP but as you can see the quality is outstanding.
